Between the cab roof liner and the board for the roof storage is a lot of unused space. As we travel with 3 people in the front the radio location is not very good. I removed the roof lining completely and build an aluminum frame. There are better options that utilize the space better but I didn’t want to remove all the original supports. I could reuse a part of the roof lining and the rest was covered with 3mm board.
The overhead console now contains a switch panel with PLC touch screen. My radio and CB. And most important a cookie cabinet.
Update 6-2017: I have removed the overhead console and modified it so the whole thing sits in an angle. The 3mm board was replaced by 8mm multiplex. I managed to find cloth that is almost the same as on the original roof lining. I glued this over the multiplex.
